AVIF（AV1 Image File Format）
AVIFは、オープンソースのAV1ビデオコーデックに基づく次世代画像フォーマットです。同等品質でJPEGより50%、WebPより20%小さいファイルを生成する優れた圧縮効率を実現します。AVIFはHDR、広色域、透過、アニメーションをサポートしています。

対応ブラウザにはAVIFを配信し、非対応ブラウザにはWebPまたはJPEGにフォールバックする、プログレッシブエンハンスメントとしてAVIFを使用してください。
技術的詳細
AVIFはAV1イントラフレーム符号化と高度な変換・予測モードを使用します。8、10、12ビットの色深度、4:4:4クロマ、HDR10、PQ/HLG伝達関数をサポートしています。
歴史
AVIFは2019年2月にAlliance for Open Mediaによって策定されました。2020年にChromeが、2023年にSafariがサポートを追加し、主要ブラウザのカバレッジが完了しました。
