XLSX Microsoft Excel का XML-आधारित स्प्रेडशीट फ़ॉर्मेट है (Excel 2007 से)। हर XLSX फ़ाइल XML का ZIP पैकेज है जिसमें शीट, शेयर्ड स्ट्रिंग, स्टाइल और मेटाडेटा होती है। यह 1,048,576 पंक्तियों, 16,384 कॉलम, फ़ॉर्मूला, चार्ट और पिवट टेबल को सपोर्ट करता है।

तकनीकी विवरण
XLSX OPC ZIP पैकेज है। हर वर्कशीट sheetN.xml में पंक्ति/सेल स्टोर करती है; स्ट्रिंग sharedStrings.xml में डी-डुप्लिकेट होती हैं। स्टाइल styles.xml में और चार्ट DrawingML XML में एम्बेड होते हैं। फ़ॉर्मूला SpreadsheetML सिंटैक्स में हैं।
इतिहास
XLSX ने Office 2007 में OOXML मानक के तहत Excel का डिफ़ॉल्ट बदला, पुराने XLS (1987 से) को विस्थापित किया। खुले XML ने प्रोग्रामेटिक एक्सेस बहुत आसान बना दिया।
